Music/Band

Music is a universal language that brings all people together. Starting at Pre-Kindergarten, every Carver Academy student learns to read and write music, play recorder, and the opportunity to be in the band. Most recently added is the Piano Lab and Recording Studio, where each student is provided with their own full size electronic piano, complete with a two-way headset which allows them to receive individual instruction from the teacher. Several times throughout the year, the students enjoy sharing their talents in concerts and recitals.

Studies have shown that the study of music helps develop critical thinking, self discipline, improves math and reading skills, self-esteem, SAT scores, student collaboration, spatial reasoning skills, and school attendance. Also, researchers have found that students involved in music education are more likely to graduate high school and attend college.
