Broadcasting studio

Several times throughout the week, The Carver Academy students are involved in the production of a morning newscast, complete with community announcements, weather reports, interviews, student-taught lessons, and musical performances. Students from every grade take turns learning how to do jobs in a modern broadcast studio. Hands-on activities include operating a high-definition camera, picking backgrounds for the green screen, choosing music for reports, running the teleprompter, typing scripts, creating questions for interviews, and much more.

The Broadcasting Studio provides a unique environment for the students to take what they are learning in the classroom and bring it into a real-world environment. Language arts and social studies skills are used to write scripts and conduct interviews of fellow peers and the community, science is used in the creation of the weather report and the science photo-of-the-day, math skills are used when presenting video math lessons to fellow students, and artistic talent is represented in broadcasting concerts and recitals. Above all, the Six Pillars of The Carver Academy are ever present in all productions.
